The endoparasites cf the Magpie have been studied in eight localities of Southern France differing by their natural landscape, vegetation and land-use pattern. In each locality, Magpies gene rally harbour different kinds of parasitic worms, and the percen tage of birds harbouring each species of parasite also differs. However, the use of Mountford’s Index of Similarity shows that parasite faunae are more similar in distant localities sharing the same type of landscape (Sansouire, Garrigue and Causse) than in adjacent areas with different landscapes. Such a situation is probably due to the sedentary habits of Magpies in this part of the Western Mediterranean Region.
