dc.description Now that particle physics has succeeded in its quest for the Higgs boson, this article brings out the value and the limitations of interdisciplinary approaches in which different branches of engineering have – like bats – contributed their technical capacities to the advancement of physics. But it is the elephant that supplies the metaphor for a systemic and complex perspective: moving beyond spheres of merely bilateral exchanges between disciplines to build up a dynamic “trans(cen)disciplinary” network: that transcends disciplines. en_US
dc.description.abstract La physique des particules a achevé sa quête du boson de Higgs ; l’article souligne l’intérêt et les limites d’approches interdisciplinaires dans lesquelles différentes branches d’ingénierie, à l’image de la chauve-souris, ont mis leurs capacités techniques au service de la physique. C’est l’éléphant qui fournit la métaphore d’une perspective systémique et complexe : dépasser de simples espaces d’échange bilatéraux entre disciplines, pour constituer un véritable réseau dynamique « trans(cen)disciplinaire » : qui transcende les disciplines. en_US
