Description: The so-called Ahmed Body is a simplified car-shaped body which has been investigated experimentally at a Reynolds number of Re = 768,000. This flow configuration has become a test case in the ERCOFTAC/IAHR Workshops on Refined Flow Modelling. The present paper has emerged from a French-German collaboration on LES of Complex Flows. Beyond presenting the respective results, an achievement of the paper is the comparative assessment of the different approaches (LES, Hybrid LES/RANS) with an appreciation of the respective advantages and disadvantages of the various methods.
