Title: Répartition du Daphnia Pulex de Geer dans les régions alpines et jurassiques françaises et sa présence dans la zone pélagique profonde du Lac d'Aiguebelette (Savoie)
Author: JOLY, R.
Abstract: Daphnia Index De Geer was not known in France except in smallpopulations under slight depth, and rich in organic matter of animalorigin. In the Alps-Jura region, such stations are scarce.During plankton collecting in Aiguebelette lake (Savoy), this specieshas been regularly found between 1955 and 1959, but only inthe deep layer, characterized !by a very low content in Oxygen.Above this level, most of the lake is inhabited by Daphnia longispitita. This is the third station of Daphnia /ulex to be found inEurope, being pelagic to great lakes. It is the first of a very special great depth localization to bementioned (between 60 and 70 m).the numerous North American lacustrine stations of this speciesare characterized b a water depth, reaching somewhat 30 m.An artificial pool, installed on a former swampy region after thelast war, near Aiguebelette (Savoy), represents a new station ofthis species
