Title: Numerical simulation of damage in glass subjected to static indentation

Abstract: The present paper is focused on the numerical simulation of a glass plate subjected to static indentation by a spherical indenter. An axisymmetric finite element model of the problem was designed and validated against analytical solutions. A continuum damage mechanics (CDM) based constitutive model with an anisotropic damage tensor was selected and implemented into a finite element code. The numerical results were analysed from the distribution of damage components.
